Meet Melissa

 
 

Melissa J. Villodas, MS, LCMHCS, NCC

I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor supervisor, with experience working with children, adolescents and families in a variety of therapeutic settings including: outpatient, residential treatment, in-home therapy. I have a B.A. in Psychology and Spanish from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Carolina University.

I have experience supporting children, teens, adults, couples, and families struggling with a variety of symptoms. Some of the issues addressed in my clinical work include: depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, conflicted family systems, autism spectrum, low self esteem, body image, self-harm, executive functioning, school challenges, relationship struggles, defiance, eating disorders, and grief.

I specialize in healing attachment, trauma, and relational wounds. I have training in EMDR, Emotional Focused Therapy, Family Centered Treatment, and Trauma Informed Care. I use parts work and a systems approach, to support individuals and families to create healthy connections. I believe in the power of experiential, “in the moment” intervention which creates self-awareness and understanding through mindfulness and healing.

I enjoy hiking, backpacking, and mountain bike riding with my family. I also enjoy traveling, painting, and growing my garden.
